To enrol in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

What the course entails

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

    • Knowledge Development (independent home study) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
    • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
    • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore
Short on time? Scuba-tec is able to offer an intensive Open Water Course, which covers all aspects of the PADI Open Water Course, and is based over two consecutive weekends.
First Weekend
Knowledge Development (independent home study prior to the course commencement) to understand basic principles of scuba diving Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills, which also included dry suit orientation (if completing your course in the UK).

Second Weekend
Open Water Dives at an inland dive centre to use your skills and explore the underwater world.
All dives completed sign off as a fully qualified Open Water Diver.
